Ulf,
I have these - which resemble your "linux-...-eabi" prefix:
BR2_GNU_BUILD_SUFFIX="pc-linux-gnu"
BR2_GNU_TARGET_SUFFIX="linux-uclibc"
and this :
# BR2_ARM_EABI is not set
which is commented out.
No lower case "eabi" at all.
